Looking for a delicious and easy way to put fabulous potatoes on the table, then this recipe is for you.Honey Chilli potatoes is an extremely popular Indo Chinese snack which is loved by people of all age groups.Sweet, tangy, spicy and so good, you won’t be able to get enough of this tasty snack.The crunchy potatoes tossed in a combination of chilli, sauces and honey makes an ideal starter for parties and get together’s. The hot and spicy flavors are sure to please everyone’s palate 😋

Mostly the honey chilli potatoes are made with potato fingers or wedges but I have made use of baby potatoes here. I have also deep fried the potatoes but you can shallow fry them as well. Make sure to toss the potatoes in the sauces just a few minutes before serving else they will turn soggy with time. Do try this irresistible party starter and let me know how it turned out for you 🙂

hot and sweet indo chinese appetizer

Ingredients
  • 11-12 baby potatoes
  • 2 tablespoon cornflour
  • oil for deep frying
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 spring onion whites chopped
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped ginger
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon red chilli sauce
  • 2 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 spring onion greens chopped
Directions
  • Step 1 Cook the baby potatoes and peel them. I pressure cooked them for one whistle and then peeled them
  • Step 2 Add the peeled potatoes and cornflour to a bowl and mix well making sure the potatoes are well coated with cornflour.
  • Step 3 Heat oil in a wok and deep fry the potatoes until they turn golden brown in colour. Remove them to a paper towel and set them aside.
  • Step 4 Heat one tablespoon oil in a non stick pan , add chopped onions, ginger ,garlic , spring onion whites and sauté until they change color and lose the raw smell .
  • Step 5 Next add chilli powder ,ketchup,chilli sauce,vinegar, soy sauce, honey give it a good mix . Add fried potatoes and stir it well such that all the potatoes are coated with the sauce.
  • Step 6 Transfer the potatoes to a serving plate Sprinkle sesame seeds and garnish with spring onion greens.Serve immediately .

Notes :
* toss the potatoes in the sauces just a few minutes before serving else they will turn soggy with time.
* Adjust the quanity of spices and sauces according to your spice preference.
